I’ve been trying all day to get logged into Windows Live Messenger, and keep seeing this:
Instant Messaging is kind of like email: you shouldn’t offer it as a service unless you can provide virtually perfect reliability.

I hate to say this, Jason, but MSN is by far the *worst* IM service in terms of reliability. AOL, Yahoo, and GTalk are an order of magnitude more reliable. Most of my non-Thoughts-Media-associated-colleagues and friends are largely unaffected by the myriad MSN failures.
Janak,
Just like I knew the sun would rise this morning, I knew you’d post a comment like that. 😉
I’m really not trying to poke fun or anything. I use it all the time along the other services. Ed’s ranted about it on Pocket PC Thoughts too. I just simply don’t understand why the service is as unreliable as it is.
Janak,
It’s ok, it deserves to be poked fun at – that’s why I posted this entry. They need to work more on network stability – or client connection problems, whichever issue I’ve been having. 🙁
