Why Can’t People Put Their Phones on Vibrate?

I saw this video over on Engadget and thought it was worth posting – it’s just too funny. First, it amazes me that journalists wouldn’t put their phones in vibrate mode out of simple courtesy. Secondly, to have it happen over and over again, without the other journalists in the room taking that as a sign to check their own phone is almost incomprehensible. And that guy at the end…I don’t know if I’ve ever seen something that rude happen on TV recently. It’s no wonder the Press Secretary rarely lasts for more than two years – talk about a tough job.

  1. Ringing phones during meetings is just inexcusable these days. But to take the call in the room during a Whitehouse press conference is simply arrogant and unprofessional. Whoever that guy is, he should be viewed as an example of something that’s wrong with American society, not laughed at and encouraged. I get annoyed when phones ring during meetings here at my job. We’re all IT people, and we all know how our phones work. There’s just no excuse for it.

  2. It’s not only rude, it’s disrepectful. If I was the press secretary, that guy wouldn’t be coming into ANY of my meetings again, cuz there would be a VERY POINTED note to his boss within 3 mins of the end of the meeting.
